Spartanburg, about 75 miles west of Charlotte, is home to the world headquarters of Denny’s restaurant chain and three colleges – Converse College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Wofford College. It has the state’s highest per capita college student population. College towns such as Spartanburg and Boulder have been somewhat buffered from the downturn because the schools provide solid jobs and a steady flow of apartment and home renters.

Many of our married residents buy a house; while most of our single residents lease. There are several desirable neighborhoods within 15 minutes of the medical center, as well as many apartment complexes, town homes and condominiums. Some residents live in the county or one of the many lake areas less than 20 minutes from the center. In general, housing is very affordable. Check with our residents for specifics.  To see some of the local properties, check out homestore.com.  In addition to the various apartment communities around town, the revitalization of downtown Spartanburg has created many loft apartment opportunities.  Look at the "Around Downtown" local merchant's newsletter for recent listings.
